Ningde Times' third generation CTP (Kirin battery) technology is here.

"With the same chemistry and the same pack size, the Kirin battery pack can deliver 13% more power than the 4680 system." Wu Kai said, "Kirin battery" will be officially released in April this year.



Last September, Tesla debuted the disruptive 4680 battery at the Battery Day event, which became a hot technology for industry discussion.

Some industry bodies predict that 4680 will become the mainstream direction in a period of time. The emergence of the "Kirin battery" will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the entire industry chain, and now 4680 is not yet mass production, but Ningde Time has launched better technology products.

1. The rise of large cylindrical battery, "Kirin battery" counterattack

Battery has been the focus of the car companies, battery manufacturers, according to different packaging, power battery can be divided into cylindrical, square and soft package and other types.

In China, mainly square batteries, in addition to Tesla, there are more than 90% of electric vehicles using square batteries. Data show that in 2021, China's power battery installation, square batteries account for about 80%.

In the face of the strong attack of large cylindrical, Ningde Time also threw out a new square battery products - Kirin battery as a counter-attack, and stressed that "energy density compared to the 4680 system is also 13% higher".

CTP technology is the way to achieve highly integrated battery without module. Compared with the traditional battery pack, CTP battery pack volume utilization rate increased by 15%-20%, the number of battery pack parts reduced by 40%, production efficiency increased by 50%, greatly reducing the manufacturing cost of power batteries, has been promoted by Ningde Time, BYD last year.

According to the public information of Ningde Times, the third generation CTP technology (Kirin battery) takes into account the advantages of extreme speed, non-destructive, safe and efficient, and is applicable to lithium iron phosphate and ternary batteries, covering the fields of passenger cars and commercial vehicles. "The energy density of Kirin battery is more than 160Wh/kg and 290Wh/L when using lithium iron phosphate, and 250Wh/kg and 450Wh/L when using ternary system. It can install 13% more power.

Specific parameters, perhaps Ningde Times will be revealed in next month's conference.

Cylindrical battery is not the advantage of Ningde Times, CTP battery technology-based square battery, is the core competitiveness of Ningde Times. 2019, Ningde Times launched the first generation of CTP battery technology for passenger cars; currently, Ningde Times is planning the second generation of platform-based CTP battery system, and plans to put it into the market in 2022-2023 At present, Ningde Times is planning the second generation platform CTP battery system and plans to put it into the market in 2022-2023, and launch the third generation series CTP battery technology for the whole series of models from A00 class to D class.
